Free Ride will be taking a much needed break this winter

We will be closing Dec 23 thru Feb 28

After seven years(!) of continually opening the shop, we will be taking our first collective vacation this winter.  In order reorganize our programming, we will be closing for two months, Dec 23 through Feb 28. We need to do some much needed organizing in order to keep this project moving, and make it even better than it already is. It also means that we don’t have to figure out how to heat the place.

And…we all just want a little bit of a break.

Here are some things you need to know.

  • Check the website frequently, we’ll be making announcements throughout the winter. You can subscribe to our RSS feed to get the announcements first.
  • We’ll be hosting periodic meetings in the interim and want your input! These meetings will be happening to help make Free Ride an even better bicycle education space. Stay tuned to the website and calendar for more details.
  • Volunteering. We’ll be collecting volunteer questionnaires the whole time, so feel free to submit one for our records.

Earn-a-Bike (EAB) Participants.

  • We will not allow any new EAB participants after Saturday Nov. 22
  • All participants must have bike out of shop by Dec 13th
  • You have two options and must take the bike afterwards: 1) finish your volunteer hours or 2) pay for your bike
  • We will not hold or reserve bikes for you through the break.
  • If you don’t take your bike, you will have forfeited it, but you can keep your hours by moving them into special binder.

We will not have any formal open shop days, but check the website frequently as we may have some special open hours.

Thanks and have a great winter! If you need to fix your bike this winter and don’t have the tools, try Kraynick’s Bike shop in Garfield. He has tools that you can use.
